The Thanksgiving Basket Project has long been a tradition for the Old Mission Women’s Club. For the past 29 years, the Club has helped support several Old Mission Peninsula families by providing them with a Thanksgiving Basket. This year the Club reached out to the Old Mission Peninsula School and Eastern Elementary and asked that they anonymously identify families that would benefit from receiving a basket. The schools requested baskets for thirteen families with a total of seventy-nine family members. To maintain confidentiality the committee never knows who will receive the baskets.
On November 17th the Thanksgiving Basket Project Co-Chairs, Linda Burkey and Marcia Lee, and the twelve committee members will prepare the boxes with the ingredients that are all donated by the Club membership. The completed baskets will be delivered to both schools the following Monday. The baskets include all fixings to create a wonderful Thanksgiving feast, from whole frozen turkeys to delicious pumpkin pie.
